Annam Chundakkai Vathal 100 g
Chundakkai Vathal (சுண்டைக்காய் வற்றல்) refers to sun-dried turkey berries (also known as pea eggplant or wild eggplant). It's a popular ingredient in South Indian cuisine, particularly in Tamil Nadu.
Appearance: They are small, hard, and wrinkled once dried, usually dark brown or black in color.
Taste: In their fresh form, turkey berries have a slightly bitter and astringent taste. Sun-drying intensifies some of these flavors and gives them a unique, slightly earthy and pungent taste. When cooked, they become softer and absorb the flavors of the dish they are added to.
Aroma: They have a distinct, somewhat strong aroma, especially when being cooked.
